When our client, Kirk, approached us, he had a classic modern dilemma: he needed a dedicated, quiet space to work from home, a vibrant zone for weekend entertaining, and a hidden spot to tuck away garden clutter. The catch? It all had to fit beautifully into his existing outdoor setup, complementing his hot tub and alfresco dining area.
Our solution was a bespoke, dual-purpose 5.4m x 3m Signature SIPs Garden Room that seamlessly bridges the gap between productivity and relaxation.
The Exterior: Premium Style Meets Seamless Integration
To ensure the new building felt like a natural extension of the garden rather than an afterthought, we focused heavily on material matching and architectural details:

The Cladding: Finished in durable ToughWood with a rich Cedar finish, perfectly mirroring the existing timber features of the garden.

The Overhang: Features three integrated LED downlighters, casting a warm glow over the deck and ensuring the space is safe and welcoming across all seasons.

The Contrast: All doors and windows feature a modern Anthracite Grey exterior to contrast with the warm cedar, opening up to clean, bright white interiors.
The Layout: Three Rooms in One
The magic of this build is how much functionality is packed into a 16.2-square-meter footprint. By splitting the floor plan, we created distinct zones that cater to every hour of the day.
1. The Light-Filled Garden Office & Games Lounge
Striking the right balance between natural and artificial light is crucial for a comfortable workspace.

Daylight: A stunning 2.4m Bi-fold door completely opens up the front of the room to the dining patio, while a side 600mm full-length picture window frames views of the garden.

Lighting & Power: Inside, dimmable LED spotlights let Kirk shift the mood from bright “work mode” to relaxed “evening lounge mode.” Four double plug sockets were strategically placed in the corners to allow total flexibility for desk and media layouts.

Comfort: A wall-mounted heater keeps the space cosy 365 days a year—complete with a dedicated spot for the family dog!
2. The Hidden Storage Vault
To keep the main entertaining area completely clutter-free, we integrated a clever storage section on the side. Accessed via a solid 800mm secure door, this separate zone features its own internal power point—ideal for keeping garden tools, cushions, and utilities organised but instantly accessible.
