When Manchester-based massage therapist Katie outgrew her home workspace, she needed a professional, calm environment to welcome her clients. Despite not being a DIY expert, Katie achieved a high-end result by pairing a Pent Haus kit with a local carpenter. By using our online design tool and expert consultations, she created a bespoke studio tailored to her exact space. Our customer Jeanie, a fitness instructor, was looking to create a fitness & gym space for her own business as well as her husband, an ex international rugby player & country cricketer who now finds himself suffering from MS and really values the ability to do regular physical activity. We made the most of the compact patio and built a 2m x 3.6m garden studio which complemented their home and surroundings perfectly. The Astana studio model featured clean, neat lines. Externally we clad the studio in ToughWood on the back and side with a custom silver grey shade. The front of the studio was clad in Western red cedar but we were able to match the grey stain to the ToughWood for a consistent finish. It’s important when designing compact size garden rooms that you still allow sufficient lighting so we installed 1.8m uPVC french doors with pleated blinds for privacy. We also featured a 600mm by 600mm top-hung uPVC window also with pleated blinds to maximise the light within the studio. As the studio was designed to be a fitness suite we installed a 1.8 by 1.2m gym mirror for them. Internally we installed LED spotlights and 4 double plug pockets. We also installed a cat 5 internet cable and socket, running from the studio to the router in the house to enable them to have internet within the studio. So the gym can comfortably be used all year around we included underfloor heating with a digital thermostat. It was then plastered finished and painted with two coats of white emulsion and features a 12mm laminate flooring.

Sukumar was looking for a garden studio that he could customise to suit his office needs as well as a space he could do his yoga in. We designed & built a 4.6m x 3m Abri studio with a 60cm roof overhang for him, clad in our ultra durable and low maintenance cladding – ToughWood™ in a bespoke blissful blue colour chosen by Sukumar. Doors and windows are argon gas filled, double glazed units with toughened glass, trickle vents, uPVC frames with high security key locking systems fitted. To allow plenty of light within the studio, it boasts two windows, one 1m wide full height casement window and a 1.2m (W) x 1m (H) top-hung window. Opening onto the softwood decking are 1.8m wide French doors, with the decking extending to 900mm. Internally we installed power and lighting with 6 recessed spotlights in the ceiling internally and 3 spotlights externally in the roof overhang, followed by 4 double sockets in each corner which were upgraded with USB sockets and dimmable lights. So Sukumar could work from his new garden oasis we also installed a Cat 5 internet cable and socket.

Our customer Christine was looking for a garden studio for her home in the heart of Brighton. Using her garden space we created a sunken, captivating garden room which she could use as a chill out area and office. We built her a 4.2m x 3.8m Astana studio with clean elegant lines, clad in our ultra durable and low maintenance cladding – ToughWood™ in shade Granite. The studio boasts uPVC double glazed windows in anthracite grey on the outside, and white on the inside. The featured window is a top open 1.2m by 800mm high casement window alongside 1.8m wide French doors. The studio was upgraded with an environmentally friendly sedum roof including additional reinforcing roof joists to accommodate extra weight, plus drainage and water retention layers, vermiculite enriched soil and a cobble border creating a quaint and picturesque look. Internally we installed power and lighting with 4 recessed spotlights in the ceiling internally and 2 external up/downlighters followed by 3 double sockets in each corner. So Christine could work from her new retreat we also installed a Cat 5 internet cable and socket. Externally we constructed a recycled composite deck spanning the width of the garden with steps down to the studio
